BioAt an early age I was introduced to games. I've always obcessed over designing the things, to the point of teaching myself how to program from minimal materials in order to make computer games. Luckily that didn't detract from my education (note that I didn't say schooling) too badly. I was encouraged to read at a young age (read The Hobbit and The LotR Trilogy in 2nd grade), so reading, not schooling or religion formed the basis of my personality.
After graduating high school, I went to college and flamed out pretty badly. I moved out of my parent's house and searched for a steady computer job for 2 years in an area quite badly affected by 9/11. I eventually settled into a job as a 2nd/3rd shift cab dispatcher for a couple of years. Seeing the world through that sort of window made me flee back to college, where I had an on campus job. It all worked fine until I couldn't take college anymore.
Since then, I've been a freelance IT Contractor, with a middling rate of success.
My primary hobby is toying with Open Source/Free Software, and trying to develop an Open Source game engine that suits me.
